Of Spring and Gardens

I made cookies last night. While waiting for our elderly oven to bake, I checked out Youtube videos of solar cookers. There is one I especially liked using an auto window sun reflector, velcro and a baking cooling rack. You need a dark pot and a baking bag like you'd put a turkey in. Fabulous! Easy peasy. Perfect and low cost for my dyebaths. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnynux2eGbY
So I tried my solar oven today. I put in a roast at noon. By 2 pm, there were too many clouds. By 6 the clouds were gone but the roast hadn't cooked either. The temperature reached 200 so no food poisoning but even the tiny new potaoes hadn't cooked. The cooker has seen better days too. Debating on whether to build my own or buy one. I'm going to look for the old saucer sled in the garage and conduct some experiments if I still have it. I also have to remember our cloud pattern. No clouds from 9 am to 2 pm. After that, overcast. Daily. Has to do with the distance from Lake Erie and sunrise. I went thru this a lot last year. Looks like a repeat this year.
Yarn got wound and labeled today. Orders got shipped. A hat finished for the Viking Festival. My bridge square got turned in. Still haven't finished bags for Boyd Gardenfest nor have I tackled the purple ruana which is so close to being done. And the weeds that need to be removed! I'm such a slacker.
I slept late this morning. Weird dreams. I had a weir-wolf girl guarding my warehouse, more effective than any guard. Visiting Lake Michigan, a beautiful park by the shore. Went in to use the restroom at a public building. Ever notice that toilets aren't right in dreams? Kept having to cut through a locker room to get to the bathroom but it was supposed to be closed and off limits. No toilets. Just lockers and vampires trying to control people. Their magic didn't work on me so they thought I was a ghost. Bizarre. Probably the neighbor kids talking outside. I don't go in much for weir-wolves and vampires.
