Every day I awake, I check the news. My news outlet is only YouTube. It carries all major news outlets, both foreign and domestic. To grab the algorithm's attention, all headlines are written as click bait. Half the time, the actual story only slightly resembles the headline. I find the whole approach annoying as all get out. From the left, headlines tend to use words like "meltdown" or "bombshell". I can't even contemplate the twisted right. Will anyone ever know the truth about what is going on? Somehow I doubt it.
Lately, I've taken to guessing each newscaster's species. You see, they all remind me of yipe dogs. Bark, bark, bark! Yipe, yipe yipe! Are you a terrier? Perhaps a pit bull? Or maybe a bulldog? If I watch you long enough, maybe I can tell. If I watch a bunch of different channels, perhaps I can figure out what kind of dog I would like for myself? While they all seem to be screaming, "Danger Will Robinson, danger!" (from Lost in Space), none seem like a robot to me.
We do live in dangerous times. I am currently reading Orbital by Samantha Harvey. We live on a very precious shell, just of sliver of life, called Earth. As a species, we have lost our reverence for Mother Earth. Her well being should be our number one concern. As it is, we are destroying it, bit by bit. We go on to destroy each other as well. The endless wars, the petty fights, the gap between rich and poor, the poor struggling to survive. Why?
In other news this week, Warren Buffet, a very rich man and more savvy than the rich idiots running our country, sold all his stock in banks and bought stock in alcoholic beverages. He is, in his own way, fulfilling my father's dream. My father always said, if he wanted to get rich, he'd open a church called The Last Baptist Church. He'd save souls upstairs and open a bar in the basement. No matter how tough times are, churches and bars make good business sense. Make of that what you will. I mean no disrespect to any religion. It was a "Follow the Money" observation on my father's part.
As for me, I am waiting for the day when social security stops coming. For now, I am booking every gig job I can, to make a little extra money. I don't think anyone owed money from filing their US taxes is going to get it. My business has not sold a single item in 2 months. I have given up. Meanwhile, I am going back to watching yet another yipe dog tell me about super volcanos and wait for Santorini and Campi Flegrei to blow. It doesn't take a fortune teller to know that food security could shortly become our number one issue. Does it matter why there are no more farms? Either economically or physically? Turkey is preparing. They expect a tsunami. The Santorini volcano caused the biblical plagues in Egypt. Campi Flegrei caused massive plague death in Europe. People who are starving cannot easily survive sickness.
Meanwhile, stay healthy people! There are measles in West Texas, tuberculosis in Kansas, and bird flu throughout the US. Without the FDA or the USDA, you are all on your own now for food safety.
