A Few Things Got Done
15 Nov 2021 05:27 pmA long list of things needing my attention, but only a fraction got done. The day disappeared. The gray skies do not help the differentiation between day and night. We will have gray skies until February now that November is truly here. For a list of America's cloudiest cities, just follow where I've lived. Seriously, I don't even own sunglasses.
In theory, it was morning when I started making bread. It turned out even better than the time before. I picked up a Mother Earth News Bread book. I learned two tips that really helped. One is to use a counter at waist height. The table is too low. It allows me to knead the dough properly. The second tip is once the bread is in the bread pan, allow it to rise in the oven, using the oven light as heat. The oven is off for this process.

Over the weekend, the fingering weight yarn got scoured. It's drying now. Winding the raw silk is a mess. It's all tangled. Silk also dries out your hands as you work with it. I have half a ball of the oregano (lichen gray) wound.

The progress on felted hats also continues. Next year will see the opportunity to sell them at more venues. (Fingers crossed) New styles are in the works as well. I need to have a minimum of six hats before they get felted otherwise I waste too much water. Two prototypes are in the mix. I am also working on flatcaps. I've a burgundy one in progress. I love doing flatcaps around Christmas. Something like the 12 caps of Christmas, except it takes a week to finish one cap. The 12 weeks of flatcaps doesn't quite have the same ring. Pictures once they get felted.
Pictures did not happen today but more bookkeeping did. It's just not a sexy topic. Healthcare and pantry stocking continues. I'm a little concerned about food shortages. It's been hit or miss at the grocery store. My husband's balance is improving. He gets another CT scan on the 22nd. Fingers crossed that this is the last one. I may yet rack the new Perry tomorrow. I got carried away with honey. It's taking a while to ferment, but fermenting it is. It's time to start dinner even though it looks like 9 pm outside. It's good weather to curl up with a book under the covers. 40s/30s today and tomorrow. 60s on Wednesday. I will get those strawberries transplanted into the new bed before the next storm. It was too wet today to work outside. The bushes need to be trimmed. The twig pile needs to meet the new (to us anyway) chipper/shredder. I still need to be a squirrel. Winter is coming
