Masterpiece Mystery ran an Inspector Lewis with Peter Davidson. My gosh, his sweet voice turned to gravel. Is he a heavy smoker? It was good to see him on TV again.

Basket Weaving

So here's how my idea is turning out. 3" wide strips of jeans from two pairs of jeans. I folded them into thirds and ran a zigzag stitch down the center. Then I started weaving a bread sized box. I will be using it for a yarn display. The edges are too thick for my machine so I'm handstitching. It's taking a bit of time. It wants to be a bottom of a tote bag but I need a basket. The top edges want to be round instead of square. Needs support. Hmm. I thought about lashing a stiffer material around the top. Not sure it will help.

Here's another basket making idea: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YsBEv-sdEm0&feature=related

At some future date, I'd like to try a coil basket. We'll see. I see a lot of natural materials in the yard. My problem is not enough Thyme. :)

I'd always wanted to see a tradtional wagon wheel rug being woven. Well here it is: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdd2Dsr9WxI
There are a couple others with better quality shooting but this lady gave me an idea. I like the way she sews. I have tons of old worn out bluejeans. I need baskets that I can no longer buy. Can't find the right size and need them to stack. I also read this a while back on design sponge: http://www.designsponge.com/2012/01/sewing-101-recycled-paper-basket.html
I can use the Youtube lady's technique of stitching the jeans to weave a basket for my yarn displays. And I can just redye the basket to any color I want. Six layers thick will be an awesomely sturdy basket. Too tired to stitch straight. Hope I still have the passion to complete it in the morning. I need small projects to build confidence using my sewing machine. Bite size. I have too many grand plans in corners all over the house.

Neighbor got a puppy. They don't know how to give it a water bottle and a wind-up alarm clock to simulate its mother. It whines so. Poor thing. But I need sleep without babies crying. Sigh.
